Wine expert Anthony Gismondi puts the spotlight on vine stars from 15 countries in town for the 2019 International Wine Festival, and recommends a best value wine from each.
As I write this, the 2019 Vancouver International Wine Festival is essentially sold out before the doors open, and as you read this the 54 events across the city are well underway.
It was pioneering stuff that had its genesis around the Mondavi dinner table. As the story goes Robert, Tim and Michael talked incessantly about wine, and making wine, at the dinner table and Marcia Mondavi suggested they should be sharing some of those thoughts with their customers in the tasting room and on the road.
• Labid Al Ameri is the proprietor of Domaine Bousquet, producing organic wines in Argentina. A finance wiz, in 2005 he put together a commercial plan to launch Domaine Bousquet and now sells wine in more than 30 countries.• Randy Fabian worked at very early age in his family’s neighbourhood liquor shop near Philadelphia.
