By virtue of his goal standing up as the game-winner, Beauvillier joined a very exclusive club: he’s just the third Canuck to have scored the game-winning-goal in the first game they played against their old team after being acquired in a trade. According to research by the Canucks’ PR department, Alex Mogilny was the second Canuck who scored the game-winner Mar. 3, 1996 vs. the Buffalo Sabres, who had flipped Mogilny to Vancouver in a trade for Mike Peca, Mike Wilson and a first-round pick the previous summer.
The first Canuck to achieve the feat was Jerry Butler, who scored the game winner Oct. 26, 1980 vs. his former club, the Toronto Maple Leafs.Article content
