Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell says Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has “copped it” after he announced an inquiry into the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic. Mr Albanese has received criticism for the inquiry not being a royal commission. “The PM is not having a COVID royal commission into the actions of state government during the pandemic,” Mr Clennell said. “Restricting the commission of inquiry to examining the actions of the past federal government and interactions between federal and state governments. “States made the decisions which really affected people's lives during the pandemic – whether it was shutting state borders or locking people down.”
