You need a fenced-in area both for the chickens inside and to prevent all those varmints from getting them – think skunks, foxes, coyotes and neighbourhood dogs. When it came time to move on from that farm, the kids helped to move those hens to another farm. And that’s when we got a lesson in chicken hypnosis. You read that correctly. If you pick chickens up by their feet and gently turn them upside down, they sort of go into a trance. The kids got to keep the money from the sale of those birds. Worth every penny.
