There comes a time when it’s good to pass the torch along to someone younger and someone who has a better grasp of what these days are like for the younger generations. Here in Canada, the Senate says 75 is the limit. The same is true for our Supreme Court. Prime ministers and members of Parliament have no age limits. Speaking of aged MPs, remember Stanley Knowles? He was an MP for 38 years. While he was an extraordinary person and a legendary parliamentarian, it was a long time.

We have watched in horror the two sad mentally freezing up “episodes” of Mitch McConnell, 81, who is in a position of power as minority leader of the U.S. Senate. And they are wheeling that once-California powerhouse Dianne Feinstein, 90, in to vote in the Senate with help from her friends. One person gave me hope last week – Mitt Romney, 76. I don’t agree with some of his politics, but he has said he is not running again because it’s time younger people make decisions for a younger generation.
