Americans on the right declared open season on Canada during the 2022 occupation of Ottawa. For them, the reaction to the so-called freedom convoy was an orgy of state terror. Carlson and Fox News were joined by Marc Thiessen of the Washington Post and other perfervid conservatives. Of course not. They would have sent in troops the way Donald Trump removed “racial injustice” protesters from Lafayette Park and the way Herbert Hoover cleared out the Bonus Army in 1932. They would have busted heads. That’s how they do things. And where restrictive COVID-19 measures were widely accepted.
