Andrew Bolt has clashed with shadow attorney-general Julian Leeser over the Liberal Party's failure to oppose Labor's Indigenous Voice to Parliament in principle.
The Liberal Party is yet to officially announce it’s position on Labor’s proposal for an Indigenous Voice to parliament, and despite being highly critical of the government’s approach to the referendum, Mr Leeser remains an in-principle supporter of a Voice.
Despite being highly critical of the Albanese government's approach to the Voice referendum, Julian Leeser remains a supporter of the idea. That's why I've always been in favour of the principle behind the voice.”“If the Government is going to put a referendum on such a sensitive topic, they've got to bring all Australians with them and they could only put the referendum if it's got a real chance of success.
When Mr Leeser claimed that having a system where Indigenous Australians are consulted on the laws that directly affect them would lead to better outcomes, Bolt said there was already consultation, including by the government Mr Leeser was part of.
