Some parts of Luzon will have overcast skies and scattered rains due to the effect of the northeast monsoon or “amihan,” the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said on Thursday, Feb. 23.

In the next 24 hours, scattered monsoon rains may affect Cagayan, Batanes, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Isabela, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, and Aurora. PAGASA warned those in these areas to remain alert because of the threat of flooding or landslides caused by moderate to occasional heavy rains.

The rest of Luzon, except Palawan, may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with light monsoon rains. Meanwhile, PAGASA said partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by localized thunderstorms may prevail in Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao.PAGASA has not monitored a weather disturbance within or near the country’s area of responsibility as of Thursday morning.
