Tropical storm “Ambo” (international name: “Vongfong”) is back over the sea west of Luzon, after two days of making multiple landfalls over the islands of Eastern Visayas and eastern portion of Luzon.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration said Ambo has made landfall seven times from Thursday afternoon to Friday afternoon in San Policarpo, Eastern Samar ; Dalupiri Island, Northern Samar ; Capul Island, Northern Samar ; Ticao Island, Masbate ; Burias Island, Masbate ; San Andres, Quezon province ; and Real, Quezon province .
She advised the public to continue monitoring official PAGASA updates as the cyclone will likely remain inside the country’s area of responsibility for the next two days. As of 5 p.m. Saturday, Signal No. 2 has been already lifted but Signal No. 1 remains raised over Ilocos Norte, Batanes, Babuyan Islands, northwestern portion of Cagayan, and northern portion of Apayao.Ambo further weakened on Saturday afternoon, with maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph. It is moving north at 30 kph.
