Amazon previously expressed aims to establish data centres in Malaysia as part of its Amazon Web Services Region expansion in the country. Thanks to new information shared on our very own Lowyat.NET forum, we now know where the company's first facility will be located.
According to a photo of a project signboard provided by user eds2, Amazon's first data centre is planned to be established in Persiaran APEC, Cyberjaya. It is revealed that the project will consist of multiple phases, which will see the construction of the data centre itself, as well as offices, other relevant buildings, and several essential facilities.
Overseeing the AWS data centre project is the Sepang municipal council, along with involvement of various parties such Asima Architects Sdn Bhd, Sunway Construction Sdn Bhd, Landarc Associates Sdn Bhd, and Arup Jururunding Sdn Bhd. However, the dates for the commencement and completion of the facility's construction are still left blank at this time.On a somewhat related note, New Straits Times reports that Sunway Construction Sdn Bhd scored a RM747.
