MANILA -- One of 3 alleged terrorists who reportedly slipped into the Philippines has denied any extremist link, Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said Tuesday.

A report from Singapore's The StraitS Times claimed a man and his fiancée recently arrived in Northern Luzon from Sri Lanka to train local militants on bomb-making, and attack churches and other targets. The same report tagged the man's mother as an alleged terror "financier"."Only one, a woman, is already here, but has presented herself to the NBI and has disavowed any terrorist connection," Guevarra said in a text message.

The 2 other alleged terrorists "have no arrival records", he added, citing information from the Bureau of Immigration. "In any event, the BI's anti-terror group is on the alert regarding further movements of these persons," said Guevarra.Islamic State attacks in the region were "negative", the military earlier said.
