Alberta police watchdog investigating after RCMP shoot Calgary woman following car chase yyc
RCMP say officers from its Airdrie Rural detachment were called to assist Calgary police in locating a vehicle reported to be driving erratically. Police said an RCMP officer then attempted to arrest the driver and an altercation ensued, which resulted in a Mountie shooting the female driver an undisclosed number of times. The 37-year-old woman was transported to hospital in Calgary via air ambulance suffering gunshot injuries. The province’s police watchdog, the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team, has taken over the investigation; the RCMP also is conducting its own internal probe.Article content
