She said 284 firefighters from outside the province are also now helping and another 250 firefighters from Washington, Colorado, Oregon, Montana, South Dakota and Idaho have arrived in Alberta and will be deployed. Troops from 3rd Battalion, Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry and 1 Combat Engineer Regiment are moving out to establish bases of operations in the province.
“We are certainly as prepared as we can be going into this weekend,” she said. However, she noted “we are not out of the woods” when it comes to the situation.“ absolutely not the time to be complacent … you’re looking at months as far as extinguishing these wildfires.” The RCMP is using perimeter control, roving patrols, quick response teams, investigative teams and crime-reduction techniques to keep areas where homeowners have been forced out secure.“Please help us to keep everyone safe by listening to the advice from local authorities and staying away from evacuated areas until you have been cleared to return,” RCMP said.to support the disaster relief efforts in Alberta communities.
