Anthony Albanese has revealed what he would say if he came face-to-face with Vladimir Putin amid new details over the downing of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has slammed"reprehensible" Russian President Vladimir Putin after new revelations from prosecutors investigating the downing of a Malaysia Airlines plane. "strong indications" Putin approved the supply of a missileIn light of the revelations, Mr Albanese was asked at a press conference on Thursday what he would say to President Putin if the pair came face-to-face.

Mr Albanese said Russian leader needed to be"held to account" over the downing of MH17, as he hit out at the President's"authoritarian regime". "Whether it be in Ukraine, whether it be the oppression of his own citizens, or whether it be acts outside of Russia of which we've seen a number.An international investigation was launched into the downing of MH17, with the Netherlands and Australia finding Moscow responsible for the disaster in 2018.

Prosecutor Digna van Boetzelaer added while it is alleged Putin had some responsibility, it was not sufficient enough to prosecute the Russian leader.
