Treasurer Jim Chalmers says the Albanese government’s first priority is to ease the cost of living. “The inflation fight is not yet won, and it will be our major focus until it is,” Mr Chalmers said during his address at the National Press Club on Thursday. “We are realistic about the next 12 months, but we are optimistic about the future because, amid all of the threats to living standards and opportunities for growth laid bare in the IGR, amid the challenge and the change in front of us, we are acting and not just thinking.”
