The Prime Minister has dismissed the Opposition Leader's request to call off the upcoming Voice to Parliament referendum, remaining committed to the cause in a nonroutine confrontation between the two after Question Time.
“122 years of doing things for Indigenous Australians, this is a chance for us to do things with Indigenous Australians.
“I think it’s completely regrettable that our country is being put into a position where we are being divided, not united,” he remarked. “It’s incumbent on the Prime Minister to recognise the facts in relation to this debate. The Prime Minister stepped away from that bipartisan approach when he came into government and he saw a wedge.
