Anthony Albanese praised the defence relationship between Australia and India following a tour of the INS Vikrant, where the Prime Minister was pictured in the cockpit of a fighter jet.

The Prime Minister arrived in India on Wednesday and was met with a chorus of dancers, drummers and acrobats performing as his motorcade left the airport.

He then joined Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for an opening ceremony at the cricket, where the pair watched the first hour of the final Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test match on Thursday. Mr Albanese will next head on to the United States to hold talks with President Joe Biden and UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

Australia is set to purchase nuclear-powered submarines as part of its AUKUS trilateral security partnership with the United States and United Kingdom.
