Prime Minister Anthony Albanese says he's 'open' to following the United States who has slapped a new requirement on Chinese travellers amid concerns of rising case numbers and fears of new variants.
The US confirmed on Thursday all travellers from China will be required to show a negative COVID-19 test result before flying into the country from January 5.
"Our travel advice hasn't changed at this point in time but we'll continue to monitor the situation as we do right around the world and update our advice when it's appropriate," he told the Today show on Thursday. "COVID is still around. It's around here in Australia but, of course, there are new variants around the world as well."
