Prime Minister Anthony Albanese says businesses must not talk themselves down, as he believes gas companies will still make profits amid price caps.

“They have benefited from the global spike in prices,” Mr Albanese said at a press conference on Friday.

He said the government have chosen a “modest intervention” to ensure Australian manufacturers aren’t driven out of business as a “direct result of these high global prices”.
