Veteran Filipino voiceover artist, Pocholo Gonzales, has created an AI project called 'Conversations with Rizal' that allows users to interact with the Philippine National Hero, Jose Rizal, through an AI agent that speaks in Gonzales' voice.
Pocholo Gonzales, a veteran Filipino voiceover artist and mentor, has developed an AI project that allows users to converse with Jose Rizal. Dubbed 'Conversations with Rizal,' the AI agent utilizes Gonzales' voice to portray the Philippine National Hero. Launching on Rizal Day, the project will be accessible for three months. The AI version of Rizal can engage with users in Tagalog, English, German, and numerous other languages, mirroring the famed polyglot's linguistic prowess.
According to Amazon Web Services, an AI Agent is a software program capable of interacting with its environment, gathering data, and utilizing it to execute self-determined tasks to achieve pre-defined objectives. Gonzales dedicated 20 years to this passion project, investing both his time and resources to enable users to have a conversation with Rizal. GMA News Online interviewed Gonzales about his driving passion behind this project, its significance to him, and hopefully, to every Filipino. Conversations with Rizal enable the AI to discuss his life experiences and his renowned novels, 'Noli Me Tangere' and 'El Filibusterismo.' The project's genesis can be traced back 20 years, starting with Gonzales' self-exploration of AI during the nascent stages of the internet. 'That's when I became interested. I thought to myself, one day, I want to create, I want to put my voice in artificial intelligence so that many people can use it.' Gonzales emphasizes that he has maintained the accuracy of Rizal's life in the AI initiative. He meticulously studied books about and written by the National Hero, using them, along with Rizal's diaries, as the foundation for the project's content. Gonzales, with the assistance of CreatiVoices Labs, the company he founded that combines 'advanced AI with voice artistry, offering ethical, lifelike voices and top audio solutions for media and beyond,' also handled the programming and coding of Conversations with Rizal.
