The province of Bataan is now free from avian influenza or bird flu, according to the Department of Agriculture (DA).
In DA’s Memorandum Circular No. 39, series of 2022, dated November 14, 2022, Agriculture Senior Undersecretary Domingo Panganiban declared the “avian influenza freedom of the province of Bataan.”
Panganiban said that upon detection of the disease, the local government of Bataan in coordination with DA Regional Field Office III and the Bureau of Animal Industry , conducted disease investigation, immediate depopulation, cleaning and disinfection, movement restrictions and surveillance in the affected premises.
Panganiban said Bataan was declared bird flu free after joint efforts of the local government units, DA Regional Field Office, and BAI, “applying effective disease control measures such as stamping out, cleaning and disinfection, and other quarantine activities.”
