Grammy Award-winner Bonnie Raitt will begin her cross-Canada tour in Victoria on Sept. 2, her first Vancouver Island performance in nearly a decade.

Raitt, whose career reached lofty heights in 1989 with her hit album Nick of Time, will perform at the Royal Theatre, with Royal Wood as the opening act. The popular Something to Talk About singer last performed on the Island in 2014, when she was among the headliners at Courtenay’s Vancouver Island Music Festival.

She was scheduled twice to perform in Victoria with James Taylor in recent years, but those concerts in 2019 and 2020 were postponed. Taylor eventually performed at the Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre last year alongside Jackson Browne. Tickets go on sale Friday, Feb. 3, at 10 a.m. through the Royal McPherson box office at 250-386-6121 or rmts.bc.ca.
