52-year-old Pepe King discovered his talent for mental mathematics later in life, and has since set Australian records.Pepe King is preparing to take on a world record where he will aim to multiply two 40-digit numbers in under 40 minutes – it's some feat for a man who failed maths at school.

"School was very difficult for me. I struggled, I had very severe ADHD, so I struggled to process information and I was easily distracted," he said."I always had really good mental arithmetic so I was really good with numbers really good with addition but following instructions was the most difficult for me.

"I think I might be capable of doing a 40 x 40, so I thought to myself, 'well, nobody else is doing it so what a nice opportunity for me to attempt the world record'." "He's got an incredible mental capacity, he's a very, very smart guy and that's why we have faith that he is going to get through this."
