St Kilda’s ill-fated crack at luring Collingwood star Jordan De Goey has created an opportunity in their salary cap - but it hasn’t necessarily changed their plans for the trade period.
“We do have a little bit more room to move cap-wise going forward, absolutely, but it doesn’t change how we view our list and the next couple of weeks.Jordan De Goey in action during a Collingwood training session at Olympic Park in September.Evidently confident they can contend for the finals, there is no big name waiting to emerge in the hole left by De Goey and St Kilda want to keep the No.9 and No.28 picks in next month’s draft for themselves while seeking out other trades.
“We’ve got some emerging talls but I think a bit of support at either end will be really important for us. We’ve got a good group of talls but we’re just a bit skinny,” Gallagher said.
