Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit operations officer Insp. Joel Hussey speaks during a media briefing Tuesday warning the public, parents and their children of the dangers of 3D printers. In front of him are 3D-printed firearms, as well as the frame for a Glock 26 currently being made by a 3D printer.

On the right was a 3D printer actively making the frame for a Glock 26.

“You can literally go on to the internet and google 3D printing schematics and plans, and unless there’s oversight in visibility of what is being done, there is a risk that our children might be printing things that we wouldn’t want them to have,” explained Staff Sgt. Baltej Dhillon, program manager for CFSEU’s crime guns investigative and intelligence group.

“It really didn’t take our team long to figure out how to print from the online sources,” noted Daisy Wong, lab manager with CFSEU’s Provincial Forensic Firearms Lab. The Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit Provincial Forensic Firearms Lab manager Daisy Wong points to a Songbird firearm, which was almost entirely made from a 3D printer. The CFSEU-B.C. warned the public, parents and their children of the dangers of using 3D printers to make firearms or other potential weapons during a press briefing Tuesday .
