A man with a storied career in Newfoundland and Labrador: John Crosbie Perlin passed away on Sunday at age 88John C. Perlin has become the third-ever honorary life president of the Royal St. John’s Regatta.Known in the province as a great community builder and as a former Canadian secretary to the late Queen Elizabeth II, John Crosbie Perlin, 88, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 9.
Perlin also co-ordinated and oversaw many Royal visits to the province. One of his last public acts was to offer public commentary on the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. Perlin served Government House for many years as honorary secretary, acting private secretary and senior aide to a number of lieutenant governors.
Dan Helmbold, former general manager of the Fluvarium in St. John’s, called Perlin a friend and mentor.
