Football Australia said “such behaviour has no place in Australian Football” after City goalkeeper Tom Glover was left bloodied by being struck in the face.
The A-League derby between Melbourne City and Melbourne Victory was abandoned amid chaotic scenes following a pitch invasion on Saturday in which City goalkeeper Tom Glover was left bloodied after he was struck in the face.
City later said he suffered a suspected concussion in the incident. A further update added that he was treated by the club doctor and required several stitches. He was taken to hospital for scans and follow-up checks. “The club would like to formally apologise to Glover, King and the camera operator as well as all players, officials and those who witnessed the appalling behaviour.”The club added they would work with stadium officials and the Victoria Police for a full investigation.
