For the uninitiated, this is Marcos' third SONA even though he has been in power less than 25 months because presidents deliver their first speech a few days after being inaugurated into office.

According to the Philippine Statistics Authority, rice imports in 2021 was just 2.967 million MT compared to 3.8 million MT in 2023. It means that domestic production in 2021 and 2023 were roughly the same but the rate of importation was about 30 percent higher in 2023.
