The Tyler Smith-skipped rink from the host Crapaud Community Curling Club won the 2023 P.E.I. Tankard men’s curling championship on Jan. 29. Team Smith went 7-1 in the triple-knockout format. “She gave me number and said he would play,” said Smith. “I didn’t know he was back home or else I would have reached out to him.“It’s a good thing she was getting milk or eggs or whatever she was getting that day.”Team Smith compiled a 7-1 record in the provincial championship, which featured a triple-knockout format.
“Once we got that, we started firing on all cylinders. The last three games, specifically, we played really well.” Smith and his team will wear the P.E.I. colours at the Brier – the Canadian men’s curling championship – in London, Ont., March 3-12.
