Some Australians are using their NDIS plans to fund sexual and physic services which makes people “scratch their heads” on whether it’s “good use” of taxpayers’ money, says Shadow NDIS Minister Michael Sukkar.

His comments come after this week’s financial report revealed the NDIS is set to blow a $5.7 billion hole in the federal budget. “In the end for every dollar that’s used for … sexual services or for a psychic, is a dollar that’s not going where it needs to and that’s helping Australians with a disability,” Mr Sukkar told Sky News host Chris Kenny.

‘Stark’: Bill Shorten ‘hopelessly out of his depth’ in NDIS spending spiral‘Stark’: Bill Shorten ‘hopelessly out of his depth’ in NDIS spending spiralNDIS Minister Bill Shorten is “hopelessly out of his depth” as the Labor government is sending two “very stark and different messages” on the sustainability of the NDIS funding, says Shadow NDIS Minister Michael Sukkar. His comments come after this week’s financial review reported the NDIS cost is growing at a faster rate than any other area of spending outside of interest on the national debt. “On one hand, Bill Shorten before the election, said there was no sustainability issues with the NDIS – no plan would go backwards under his watch,” Mr Sukkar told Sky News host Chris Kenny. “Yet since the election we see a concerted effort from the government to continue to highlight the lack of sustainability, in their view, of the NDIS –and we saw the budget blown on the NDIS in October of $8.8 billion. “Yesterday we see reports in the papers that we’re now seeing an additional $5.7 billion blowout in the scheme – that’s a huge number to have blown out since October. “We’re seeing the government try to walk back the assurances that they gave Australians before the election – on one hand you’ve got a minister saying one thing, a Treasurer and a Prime Minister saying something else – and quite frankly the numbers which paint a different picture as well.”

Albanese needs to find a Voice model ‘all Australians can agree on’Albanese needs to find a Voice model ‘all Australians can agree on’Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s celebrations over the Voice last week were “premature” as his model is currently more likely to face defeat than a landslide win at a referendum, says Sky News host Sharri Markson. 'If the Voice and Indigenous recognition in the Constitution are so deeply important to the Prime Minister, then surely he needs to do everything in his power to find a model that all Australians can agree on,' she said. 'If Albanese doesn't want a hurtful and humiliating defeat at the referendum, he needs to sit down with the Coalition, sit down with the fiercest Voice critics and find a model that's acceptable to all Australians and that both sides of politics can support. 'Because a crushing defeat at a referendum would alienate and isolate Indigenous Australians, achieving the opposite outcome of what Albanese wants.'
