MURDER charges were filed Monday against eight policemen from the Lambayong Municipal Police Station in Sultan Kudarat in connection with the killing of three teenagers.
The charges were filed before the Department of Justice by the families of the victims who claimed that the three teenagers were victims of a rubout.Charged were Maj. Jehnameel Toñacao, Senior Master Sergeant Syril Mahaddi, Corporals Elpedio Garlit and Joffrey Apalla, and Patrolmen Nicol Dion Toreja, Basser Mako, Mario Rombaoa Jr., and Roldan Claveria.They were also charged with planting of evidence, falsification of documents and grave misconduct.
The families said that the teenagers were cruising on their new motorcycle when they were killed by the policemen on December 2, 2022.The lawmen claimed however that the three were flagged down at a checkpoint but they sped away, prompting the police to give chase.The town police reported that the motorcycle crashed in Purok Masagana and the teenagers opened fire when the lawmen approached, triggering a firefight.The police claimed to have recovered two Colt .
