GEORGE TOWN: Police arrested seven people involved in a brawl near City Stadium here last night after the Malaysia Super League football match between Kedah and Penang, which Kedah won 2-1.
The incident took place at 11.20pm when fans were leaving after the match, with supporters from both sides taunting one another at a petrol station next to the stadium before it escalated into an altercation.Northeast district police chief Soffian Santong said those involved threw stones and traffic cones at each other, with one shattering the glass of a bus parked nearby. “Two of the suspects sustained head injuries, presumably from being struck by the stones,” he said in a statement.
