62 sacked from police force this year, says Deputy IGP

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 62 officers and personnel, who committed various offences including drug abuse have been fired this year, says Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay.

The Deputy Inspector-General of Police said the sackings were among the 741 actions taken in the first seven months of 2023.

"Punishment in the form of warnings against officers and personnel is the highest involving 443 actions followed by a fine , stripping of emolument rights , delay of salary movement , reducing salary and demotion . "Last year, 154 officers and personnel were sacked while in 2021, 117 officers and personnel were fired," he said when met at Raudhatul Sakinah cemetery on Sunday .

Ayob Khan said the police would never compromise in taking action against any officer or personnel who were involved in wrongdoings, including criminal activities. Ayob Khan was commenting on the raid by Bukit Aman Integrity and Standard Compliance Department at an entertainment outlet in Seremban on Saturday .14 of the 15 policemen as well as the two DPPs tested positive for drugs.
