Petaling Jaya mayor Mohamad Azhan Md Amir said the recipients were selected from the e-Kasih portal.
The programme saw 60 people, who had an income of below RM2,000, receiving RM250 in cash each to help them buy what they needed most for the festival.He said Petaling Jaya City Council wanted to help those truly in need, through the programme introduced by the city council in 2007.Among the recipients was Kamsiah Arsad, 71, who takes care of her youngest daughter who was paralysed after a fall.
“I live with my son and daughter-in-law, but I cannot depend on them all the time as they have their own family to take care of,” she said.
