THE 45th Infantry Battalion (45IB), in partnership with the municipal government of Tipo-Tipo in Basilan province, conducted four-day Barangay Defense Force Training 2024, enhancing the preparedness and resilience of local communities, the military said Thursday, December 26, 2024.The 4th Civil Relations Group (4CRG) said the training was held in collaboration with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Tipo-Tipo Municipal Police Station.
The 4CRG said 125 Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team (BPAT) members have participated in the training, which marked the beginning of a collaborative effort to strengthen disaster preparedness at the grassroots level.The 4CRG said the four-day training, held last week, was aimed to equip the BPAT members with essential humanitarian and disaster response skills, focusing on Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR).During the training, 1st Lieutenant Romel Aglibot, 45IB’s Bravo Company commander, delivered an orientation to the trainees, emphasizing the critical role BPATs play in their communities, particularly in disaster response. Aglibot also outlined the Mission and Vision of the BPATs, their roles in enhancing local disaster management, and the criteria for disqualification from service.Fire Officer 1 Delphin Deleyon and his team from BFP-Tipo-Tipo, conducted practical exercises in Disaster Risk Reduction Management (DRRM), teaching BPAT members various life-saving techniques, including the Fireman's Carry, Support Carry, Arms Carry, Pack Strap Carry, Saddle Carry, Pistol Belt Carry, Two-Man Support Carry, and the Modified Two-Man Support Carry.
