For rendering service above and beyond their call of duty, four teachers were among this year’s “Outstanding Filipinos,” the Metrobank Foundation, Inc. has announced.

The awardees are Dorothy Tarol, SPED teacher and guidance counselor from the Special Education-Integrated School for Exceptional Children ; Cristina Cristobal, Special Science Teacher V from Philippine Science High School Main Campus ; Eva Maria Cutiongco-De La Paz of the University of the Philippines Manila ; and Ricardo Jose of the University of the Philippines Diliman .

As the foundation celebrates its 40th founding anniversary this year, Sobrepena noted the “call to recognize excellence resonates truer than ever.” He added that the Foundation will continue to “sustain our commitment to honor exemplary servants – whose stories inspire action and whose contributions represent the best in our people.”

Guided by the theme “Beyond Excellence,” the Metrobank Foundation Outstanding Filipinos are recognized for “rendering service above and beyond their call of duty.” Their accomplishments must have “inspired and influenced their peers, as well as the people in their respective communities.” Likewise, the awardees’ works must have “transformed a community with a lasting positive impact on people and the country.” A total of 18 finalists were selected among 240 nominations.
