$300,000 boat stolen from Bowness driveway within minutes Monday morning yyc

He ran to inform his wife and children, and called police. The couple then knocked on their neighbours’ doors on Bowness N.W., asking if they had seen anything suspicious. Eventually, they came across one who had — David Chalack.

At 5:40 a.m., Chalack was preparing for a virtual meeting but decided to run out for coffee. While driving past Ewasiuk and Hodges’ house, he saw a truck had pulled up outside, partially blocking the road. But he also noticed the truck wasn’t theirs. He wondered if the GMC truck was their friend’s. He saw a Caucasian man — standing about five feet eight inches tall and wearing a dark hoodie — running to the back of the truck, undeterred as Chalack manoeuvred his way around it.

Chalack was running late and continued on his way. Video footage from another neighbour shows that less than two minutes later, the truck was dragging the boat behind. Police told Hodges and her husband that the robbery was organized. “This was orchestrated,” she said. “They would have scoped out the place.”There was an error, please provide a valid email address.By clicking on the sign up button you consent to receive the above newsletter from Postmedia Network Inc.
