THREE senior scouts were killed while 10 others were hospitalized after they were electrocuted on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at the Boy Scouts of the Philippines campsite in Mount Abong-Abong, Barangay Pasonanca, Zamboanga City.Lawyer Jose Rizalino Ortega, BSP-Zamboanga City council chairperson, said the senior scouts were electrocuted after the tip of the canopy they were transferring from one place to the other accidentally hit an electric live wire.
“They don’t stay in the camp, they just go there for the activity,” he added.Dr. Shadrina Sarapuddin, Zamboanga City Medical Center information officer, said three of the 13 who were electrocuted were declared dead by the attending physician. “All of the necessary resuscitation procedures were done but to no avail since dead on arrival na sila,” Sarapuddin added.The fatalities were all senior scouts aged 22, 18, and 17 who were from Barangays Sta. Catalina, Pasonanca, and Tetuan, respectively.
