Almost four billion dollars will be spent upgrading Australia’s northern defence bases as the local building industry welcomes the investment.

The $3.8 billion investment announcement follows the release of the National Defence Strategic Review on Monday.

$2 billion will go towards air bases stretching from Western Australia right across to north Queensland, while $1 billion will go towards land capabilities and $680 million in maritime estate investments.
