Janet McGarry grew up in a musical family and was exposed to music all the time. Performing before live audiences in little country halls during those early years provided her with a strong passion for singing and gave her the building blocks that led her to share her love of music and simply sing what was in her heart.
McGarry was encouraged by fans and friends to make her first recording in 2000 and she has never looked back. Thirteen albums later, she continues to be a dominant presence in bluegrass music, both at home and abroad. Among her most significant career accolades, she is a Daughter of Bluegrass, a leading group of female bluegrass artists which she was invited to join in 2008. McGarry appears as a leading artist on “Bluegrass Bouquet,” the group’s third collaboration on Blue Circle Records. She also appears on the box set of the “Daughters of Bluegrass” project called “Pickin’ Like a Girl.”McGarry is a five-time female vocalist of the year at the Eastern Canadian Bluegrass Awards.

I don’t get fired up easily, but when I do, the Irish might come out, lol. I find people fascinating and enjoy meeting people wherever I go, a trait I inherited from my mother!Being with my husband, wherever we are. Especially on our beautiful Island.
