Mr Tan said the number of wild boars in Singapore’s nature reserves is stable. A study conducted between 2019 and 2020 found that the number of wild boars was 6.5 boars per sq km in nature reserves and 5.22 per sq km at nature parks. Wild boars do not have natural predators in Singapore and also have a high reproductive rate. Females can give birth twice a year, with a litter of up to 12 piglets.
