Drug testing of 1,800 employees revealed 19 positive results for illegal drug use. Affected employees include regular, job order, contract, and security personnel. Those who tested positive will face varying consequences depending on their employment status.
Nineteen employees of the provincial government tested positive for illegal drug use , Provincial Administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz II confirmed on Monday. The affected individuals include three regular employees, seven job order employees, three contract of service employees, and six security guards from a private security agency contracted by the Capitol. Diaz explained that the drug test was conducted in December of last year, during which 1,800 employees were randomly selected.
As a result of the positive drug test results, the contracts of those who tested positive were not renewed this January. Diaz added that the regular employees who tested positive will undergo a confirmatory test. If the results remain positive, they will be given the option to undergo a drug rehabilitation program if they wish to return to government service. However, if they refuse rehabilitation, they will face charges for Grave Misconduct. Of the 1,800 employees tested, 1,100 are based at the Capitol, while the remaining 700 are assigned to various district hospitals operated by the provincial government. The drug test is part of the Capitol's ongoing commitment to maintaining a drug-free workplace
