17% rise in TB cases, deaths up by 12% FMTNews

Health minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa has called for an end to misinformation as well as stigma on TB.

Dr Zaliha Mustafa said the number of cases reported in 2022 was 25,391 compared with 21,727 reported a year earlier, an increase of 3,664. “However, the actual incidence rate reported was lower than WHO’s estimate,” she said, adding that early detection through screening was important.
