The UP Express will return to 15-minute service Tuesday after a series of service disruptions that, at one point, saw the entire line temporarily shut down.
on Feb. 10, with trains running every hour. Metrolinx said the trains taken out of service “required maintenance.”
The service delays were blamed on thermal cracks discovered on the brake discs of several trains during a scheduled inspection. Service on the entire line was temporarily suspended on Feb. 11. GO buses were used during the closure. The Star contacted Metrolinx about whether the return to 15-minute service is related to completing repairs that resulted in these maintenance delays or whether it is due to reverting to a pre-pandemic schedule, but did not receive a response.
